8-9 Month Baby Food Routine
This Diet Chart is according to my personal experience with my baby. Before introducing every new food I talked to my doctor and learned all the new ways to introduce food to my baby. It is not necessary to strictly follow the diet chart as it is because every baby is different and their food preferences are also a duty. It’s our responsibility to check what our baby likes and is comfortable with.
Daily Routine of 8-9-month-old baby:-
- Wakeup time (6.00 – 7.00am) = Breastmilk/Formula milk (150-200ml).
- Breakfast (8.00 – 8.30am) = Half cup of food.
- Nap time (10.00 – 10.30am).
- Mid morning snack (11.00 – 11.30am)
- Lunch (1.00 – 1.30pm) = Half cup of food.
- Nap time (1.30 – 2.00pm).
- Mid-evening snack (5.00 – 5.30pm).
- Bed time( 7.00 – 8.00pm).
Breakfast:-
- Oats porridge.
- Ragi porridge.
- poha porridhe.
- Rice porridge.
- Makhana porridge.
- Fruits puree.
- Cerelac.
- Egg yolk (boiled/scrambled).
- Pancake(ragi, oats, suji, wheat).
- Cheela/dosa(moong daal, suji, wheat).
- Idli.
- Corn flakes.
Mid-morning Snack:-
- Fruits puree or mashed.
- Vegetable puree or mashed.
- Yogurt (plain or mixed with fruits).
- Potato wedges.
- Sweet potato wedges.
- Vegetable soup.
- Chicken soup.
- Paneer( cottage cheese).
- Homemade fruit juice.
Lunch:-
- Moong dal khichdi.
- Rice and daal.
- Vegetable khichdi.
- Fish.
- Curd rice.
- Rasam rice.
- Cerelac.
- Sabudana kheer.
- Chapati.
- Soft stuffed paratha ( veg, paneer, potato) – 9-month-old baby
- Idli sambar.
- Dosa ( ragi, rice, oats, suji) – 9-month-old baby
- Uttapam.
- Chicken rice.
Mid-evening snack:- (ONLY FOR 9-MONTH-OLD BABY)
- Fruit purees.
- Vegetable purees.
- Yogurt.
- Banana smoothie.
- Avacado smoothie.
- milkshake.
- soups (vegetable, chicken, tomato, pumpkin).
- cutlets ( potato, paneer).
- Halwa.
Important Tips:-
- 5-6 times breastmilk/Formula milk is compulsory for the baby.
- Do not cut breast milk or formula milk when the baby demands it.
- You can give the food either in puree form or soft mashed form.
- Do not offer milk 1-2 hours before giving food, as the milk will fill the baby’s stomach and he may not be interested in eating.
- You can add pure ghee to baby food to enhance its taste and for healthy weight gain.
- Offer milk to the baby before or after a nap.
- Avoid adding salt, honey, egg whites, and sugar. Use fruits instead for sweetness.
- Babies at this age sleep for 14-15 hours a day.
- Give a few sips of water every 2-3 hours.
- All babies are different and their food and milk requirements are different.
Fruits which can be given:-
- Banana
- Apple
- Chikoo.
- Papaya.
- Avacado.
- Mango.
- Peaches.
- Strawberry and other berries.
- Grapes.
- Apricots.
- Pear.
- Plums.
- Figs.
- Watermelon.
- Musk melon.
- Dates.
Vegetables which can be given:-
- Carrot.
- Potato.
- Pumpkin.
- Green Beans.
- Spinach.
- Sweet potato.
- Broccoli.
- Onion.
- Tomato.
- Capsicum.
- Gourds/Bottle gourd.
- Beetroot.
- Peas.
- Cauliflower.
- Cabbage.
Grains that can be given:-
- Rice.
- Lentils( moong daal, masoor dal, Toor dal).
- Ragi.
- Oats.
- Suji.
- Wheat.
- Peanuts.
- Dry Fruit powder.
- Jaggery.
